We are enjoying the 30-degree weather in Cyprus! We drove into the mountains to visit a small town (Pano Lefkara) known for its silver and lace work. Very hilly, but also picturesque.

After we descended back to the coast, we toured Limossol's old port and castle. The castle has been around for centuries, demolished and rebuilt several times. Richard the Lionheart was married here. Inside, they have several tombstones, with a variety of degrees of craftmanship. One is from the 13th century and was made by a grieving husband over the death of his pregnant wife. He's not a professional sculptor, but you can't help but admire him for his effort.

We had time for one more stop which were the Neolithic village ruins from about nine thousand years ago. This civilization came here about 11 thousand years ago and by the 9th millennium BC had been cut off from its European roots and developed a unique civilization.

Cyprus has great food and is very affordable. The sites are all free or very cheap and parking is 1 or 2 euro for several hours. Tomorrow we'll drive to Europe's only divided capital, Nicosia.

Speaking of driving, Cypriots don't have the best reputation when it comes to driving, but other than chronic tailgating they haven't been too bad. The highest speed limit on the island is 100kph, and there is strict enforcement so maybe they are getting better. The guy we rented from sent me three pages of WhatsApp tips for driving on the left in Cyprus, with hand-drawn diagrams. I'm fine driving on the left, but every new place we've gone on this trip drives the opposite way.
