Perth and Rottnest Island
Feeling the heat in Perth
TRAVELAUSTRALIA

Perth, Western Australia. We’ve been in Perth for a week now. The weather has been quite hot (reaching up to 40 °C), but pleasant in the morning and evening, cooled by the constant winds blowing east from the Indian Ocean. We’ve attended a couple of hockey games and visited Rottnest Island to celebrate Alyssa’s birthday.
The sunsets are great and full of colour, and we’ve been lucky to see plenty of famous Aussie wildlife. I saw Dolphins in the river on my first walk.
We rented bikes for our day on Rottnest and rode around half the island and yes, we saw the island's most famous resident, the quokka. The brown snake in the photos may be a Dugite, a particularly nasty fellow who walked in front of my path to the changeroom.
Two more hockey games this weekend, and then we will head south for a few days.
